Carl Hansen & Søn and the CH24 Wishbone Chair for Children:

In honour of Carl Hansen & Søn’s 110th birthday, the iconic CH24 Wishbone Chair — originally designed in 1949 — is now available in a children’s version, suitable for kids aged 3 and up.

Despite its smaller size, making this design classic is no less complex. The individual parts can’t just be scaled down proportionally; each one needs its own precise measurements to preserve the chair’s original look and keep its proportions balanced. Even the paper cord is thinner than the original, giving the seat a lighter feel that suits the chair’s smaller size.

Like the adult version, the CH24 Children’s Wishbone Chair is made up of 14 individual parts, and building one involves more than a hundred steps — most done by hand. An experienced weaver takes about an hour to weave the seat, using 75 meters of paper cord.

As always, every step happens at Carl Hansen & Søn’s factory in Gelsted, Denmark.
