About Bjørn Wiinblad

Bjørn Wiinblad (1918–2006) was a true original in Danish art and design. While Scandinavian style often leans toward minimalism, Wiinblad went in the opposite direction—embracing colour, ornamentation, and joyful expression. His work is instantly recognisable: whimsical faces, hand‑drawn lines, rich patterns, and a playful, almost fairy‑tale universe.

Wiinblad’s creativity knew no limits. He created ceramics, posters, theatre scenography, costumes, tapestries, and large‑scale decorations across the world. From the beloved Nymølle plates of the 60s and 70s to his iconic figurines and vases, his mission was always the same: to bring people joy.

Today, his brand and design universe continue through his original artwork, archives, and design legacy. The modern collections are created by professional designers at Rosendahl Design Group, who work directly with Wiinblad’s extensive archive of drawings, sketches, ceramics, patterns, and colour studies.
