The BK Indoor‑Outdoor Series is a historically important furniture line designed by Danish architect and professor Bodil Kjær in 1959 for Carl Hansen & Søn. It was conceived as a versatile collection of furniture that combines architectural clarity and fine craftsmanship with the ability to function both indoors and outdoors.
The series includes a range of pieces — or architectural elements as Kjær likes to call them – such as lounge chairs, benches, tables and even a swing sofa, — all designed with structurally clear, geometric forms inspired by Cubism and modern architecture.
Everything is traditionally crafted from solid FSC‑certified teak, a wood known for its durability in outdoor conditions and the way it also develops a rich, silvery patina over time.
